Default LS6 springs + cam....worth it?

I am considering buying some factory 243 heads with the factory LS6 springs on them for my 2000 A4 Z28. It has full bolt ons including LT's. I don't care to be buying a bunch of new stuff and I don't think I want to go really aggressive on a cam. I am looking for a good under the curve power cam that doesn't needed to be reved to the moon. I am looking at a cheap budget build. I don't mind getting new lifters/pushrods. I WILL be on a stock convertor as well!! It isn't a daily driver but I want the valvetrain to be quiet itself. The cam can lope all it wants really (which i know it wont' with a mild cam). Would this kind of build be worth my time? I just dont' want to gain like 2 tenths for the time and cash that would go into buying a mild-medium setup.

there are plenty of cams out there that give reliable power increases, but still retain great drivability and reliability.

if you're on a budget why are you considering swapping heads. unless you're planning some ported ones it's not worth the hassle.

ls6 heads stock will gain you about 10-15hp give or take. while a good set of ported ones could yield upwards of 40-50hp on a cammed motor. so at the expense of gaskets, head bolts and the heads, staying with stockers is pointless.

project criteria:

1> good under the curve power cam
2> doesn't needed to be reved to the moon
3> I am looking at a cheap budget build

Find a used TR224 on a 114LSA
> Great all around cam (Strong undercurve)
> Max rev /shift 6500 rpm
> Buy cam used. You can get PP stock cast 243 castings with Duals in the neighborhood of $700

All together if you do the install you still are looking at around $1500 + tune.

how would the F11 or F13 compare to the 224? i think I may just do a cam swap with springs, lifters, pushrods, etc. I may just leave the stock heads on. I don't want to go too aggressive with the stock stall and tranny. A cam that lopes all day is fine. I just want to optimize MY setup. By the way, I have the 3.23 rear end.

if you want to do only cam swap and lookin for verey strong performance on the street

no qustion go for TSP 228R (texas speed performance)

and you will love your car to death

this cam has the same almost the same performance as the tr224 but with better horse power and alot of power under the curve

good luck.
