Default spark plugs readers have at it

These are from cylinders 3 & 5. The other cylinders look normal. These two were wet with odd markings. Car is down a little power with some intermittent missing at WOT. anyone think it look like a head gasket problem? no smoke from the tail pipe. I'll leave these as links because the pictures are large, but i felt the size necesary to view the detail.

Good pics. Man, those things are soaked. If it's just those cylinders, it can't be PCV. I'd be inclined to check compression and do an oil change and check for gas in your oil. Those should tell you if the rings are bad. If you get a negative on both of 'em, I'd change the valve stem seals next.

The plugs actually look good to me (insulator and electrodes) and so are not likely the cause of your operational problems.

Since the oil is on the threads and not on the electrodes, it is more likely from the outside of the engine (i.e. leaking down from the valve cover gaskets or something).

I took the valve cover off to look for broken springs. I did not notice anything leaking down at the time, but I will look again as I was not checking for that.

I would tend to agree. There is no way for anything inside the combustion chamber to get all the way up those threads, and not likely that the wetness spread as you were removing the plugs. Check VC gasket/any hoses or anything like that see if something is leaking or burning onto the plug head(ceramic/wire)

Plugs look like youre burning cleanly. Like the others said, the oil might be external.

I looked at the valve covers. They look fine. However, I did notice something on the passenger side where the head meets the block. There is a stain where the intake, head, and block all meet. Althought I'm not sure how that is affecting the sparkplugs on the other side of the motor...I guess I'm left with no choice but to tear it down this weekend...will provide pics later for those interested. Thanks for all the help.

You might want to give your A/F a little bit of tweaking, you have some speckling on your insulator from detonation. https://ls1tech.com/forums/attachmen...chmentid=99323

Default **7/2/07 Update**

Pulled the heads, was a leaky head gasket. Combustion chamber 3 was soaked and 5 only a little better. Explains the plugs and misfiring. From the looks of the exhaust valves, it was leaning out. I installed an LPE fuel pump so that should take care of that problem when I hit the wet shot. All in all the heat from going lean probably caused the leaky head gasket. It's all back together now and running great. Hopefully I have solved all the problems.

Thanks to everyone for the input! Now back to
