Default F14 problems...

It seems that my Friends 00 Ls1 wouldn't start with this cam put in. We went threw each and every thing we thought would be a problem including injectors, map/crank/cam sensors. Even changed the Computer and Mass air from my car and put it on theirs.

The car wouldn't start. but we figured it out to be the only reason it wouldn't start was because the F14 was in there. We put the car at top dead center and went dot to dot (stock timing gear and chain).

My question here is if we went to install the F14 again would we need to possibly degree the cam, and also if we did need to how much. My friend can't seem to find the cam card but on the cam is written F14 +4.

Any and all suggestions welcome.

Thank you,
Shane

I Really do not want to mess with the harness at all. How do you tell if the cam is ground wrong? Any pics?
Thanks,
shane

Shoudl have no prob starting even if its not degreed perfectly. Would have to be a ways off to cause problems. Have you checked compression? Verified that youre getting spark? Smelling fuel out the pipes? Has any tuning been done? It might be difficult to get it to start if you still have stock tune in there, but I would think youd get something out of her.

The only reason the car wouldnt start is because of the cam.
We have the stock cam in there now and it runs like a champ.
What would be a reason for the f14 being in there and not running.

It would turn the motor over and just pop.
Not even a normal backfire, only once ina great wile, more like a fuel compression pop.

I would not call them I would PM John you will get through quick. It could be one of the cams with the 180 out piece. Was the cam bought new? Because the problems they had were with some older cams last year.

Match up the first lobe to the key/pin. Should be pretty easy to tell if its ground 180* out. If it is, call allan and im sure he'll send you a new cam.

Not a problem. I know how busy they are over there, and it is the easiest way to get a response. I am fortunate that I just drive over there most of the time.

Jon is a great guy to deal with, i promise u that no harm was intended and it does not make their shop look bad at all, all their cams have been proven and whenever there has been a problem, theyve always came through and took care of everything....**** happens, but they they are a great company to deal with and i will continue to deal with them in the future
