Question Oil pan gasket removal?????

During my heads & cam change the oil pan gasket was damaged; can it be removed without removing suspension items????? Tried using the search several times and it wasn't working. ARGH! As always, thanks for any and all assistance!

You got to cradle ur engine and lower the subframe a little to get the pan out! It sucks but once you do it a few times it gets easy!

I'm going to get a new one. I'm just trying to wrap my little mind around the fact that I have to do this, what it entails, what I need to do it, and make sure that I do It right.

check out this thread: https://ls1tech.com/forums/generation-iii-internal-engine/675343-rod-bolt-install-write-up.html

Its the write up to install new rod-bolts, which requires pulling the pan. Im my opinion this is the easiest way.

Can a new gasket simply be cut, let's say in the front, so that you don't have to drop the K-member? You can just wiggle the new gasket around the oil sump and so forth and then come back and add a small amount of gasket maker to the slice you made. Push the gasket together to minimize the gap and then tighten it up?

Right now I have several small dribbling leaks around the gasket and even if the new gasket were to leak a tiny bit were I cut it, it would still be better than what I currently have.
