LS6 craziness
#2
Because all the noobs know is that LS1 is inferior to the LS6, Camaro vs. Corvette motor type mentality I guess. Even though when you get down to the nitty gritty, they are pretty much the same. But dont get me wrong, Id pick up and use some LS6 stuff if I came up on some smoking deals.

Well if they were the same price then I guess I would take the LS6, but there will be no gains from it, you and I both know this. But this scenario would mean there is a good deal going on, because everyone always wants more for the LS6. If I find an LS6 block tomorrow for the right price tomorrow, am I going to snap it and be in a hurry to swap it all over? No, no gains over the LS1 block.
But what I would really want is a 5.3 Taco Bell block

Mike, there's only 3 types of people who can get that much of an odd interpretation from what I said. Politicians, Law Enforcement Officers, and women. With a name like Mike, I assume you're no woman. LOL! Just kidding. I'm talking about I see tons of people suddenly talking about swapping in an LS6 like it's an upgrade. In reality, I'd rather rebuild my LS1 with forged internals for the same price, and anybody in the world should prefer that. So yeah, I'm saying
forged LS1 > stock LS6

if ya wanna get nitty gritty, the ls6 block is weaker. however we cant deny the stock ls6 heads are better than stock ls1 heads along with the intake, but thats the only ls6 **** worth swapping

not to highjack your thread but iv had my ls6 in for 1.5 years now and only reason i went with the ls6 is b/c my t/a is my DD and my friend had the block in his garage and i built it from there. now im planing on stroking it to a 383, putting afr heads and a 90/90 setup

no but the vavesprings have 84 thou on em and they are still ls1 heads, not ls6, sorry the point i was making is that they are used ls1 heads whereas i can have new ls6 heads for same $$, dont mean there is something wrong with them, and with all that ive gone through with this motor it wouldnt surprise me for valve seals to leak or some crap like that around 100k lol

I see what you mean, but just put new springs and valve seals on them then. I guess my point is it's a car you'll toy with, and keep making faster. It's probably smarter if you're gonna replace the engine anyway to do it with a forged bottom end and make do with the rest of the parts you have now. You WILL spend more money on it later anyway, so you can get better heads then. There's not THAT much difference in your heads and 243s. All LS1 heads were awesome and innovative. Make do with them and have a bottom end that will hold whatever you give it. You can then spray its ***** off. I know you won't spray. I said that too. I was wrong.
