Default arp studs

Due to another attack of CRI (cranial rectal inversion) I've stripped 1 of the 3/8 studs , ARP instructions said to torque to 65 ftlbs, but failed to say that the small studs should only be at 35-39, would a helix coil work to repair the problem. Gonna raise some hell with ARP tomorrow. Stripped the # 11 stud out of block by following their simple instructions. As before any comments and or suggestions even lewd and crude would be greatly appreciated.

I recently installed ARP head studs too. Before I began I read the install directions that came with them, talk about poor instructions. I stopped right there and went online to look for someone else that has done then

I know its too late for you now, but below is a link to webpage with a good write up on the ARP Head Stud install.

Maybe this link can help someone else in the future.

Sorry to hear about your stripped bolt hole, I wish I could give you some direction in fixing it.

A heli-coil will work just fine on those upper studs at the very top of the head. Those bolts really don't do much anyways, except help the gasket seal at the top. A heli-coil on one of the cylinder bolts would be more risky though.

I would use a timesert instead of a helicoil much stronger repair. Also the only authorised repair for rollsroyce and jaguar.

Any issues, with these studs as far as clearance goes?? (can you still get the heads on with studs installed?)

You have to set the head on the block first then insert the studs, washers and nuts. The only one that is tricky is the bottom row rear stud on the passenger side. The one right next to the heater core box. Very much a pain in the a$$ But with a little persuasion they go in no problem. And of course if the motor is out there would be no problem at all.

I broke one of the smaller top stids also, thanks to the lack of instructions courtesy of ARP. It snapped at 45 ft-lbs. I just threw a head bolt in there, since those don't do much anyway. Those instructions were a damn joke!
