do the ls1 heads have the potential (porting&valves)to make the same power of the stock ls4 ..what is the technical difference between the two heads?

the ls1 and ls6 head stock for stock are not that much different flow wise....a ported ls1 head will absolutly stomp on stock ls6 heads...ls6 heads are nothing special when they are stock..but ported ls1 vs ported ls6 there is a slight advantage to the ls6 head <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> hope this help's...

A stock LS6 head will outflow a stock LS1 head by about 40 cfm. Also, the LS6 head doesn't stall out at higher lifts like the LS1. Big difference stock to stock. Ported LS6 heads will kill ported LS1 heads at high lift.

On the theme of this question. Want to set up my '99Z m6 to a Z06 or 400hp machine. Going to use a Z06 cam, (daily driver, no tuning and $) headers (MAC) should flow as good as the stock set up on a Z06 and stage 1 heads. Stage one heads have the hook-ups for the egr and stuff.

Will flow as good as Z06?
What compression? 10.3, 10.5, 10.7????
What is the RWHP for a Z06??? The advertised 405

A stock 2001 Z06 on our dyno made 335 RWHP, a 2002 Z06 made 355 RWHP, a Stage I head/cam car made 390 RWHP, and people have made as much as 420 RWHP with our Stage I head, It is the way to go compared to a LS6 head out of the box. You could mill a LS1 head from 67cc to the LS6 size of 64cc, or you could buy our Stage I fully CNC ported Stage I 4.8/5.3 truck head and have 63cc chamber, that would be 10.8.

The 6.0L head is as good as the LS6 on a bigger engine or power adder combo where the 70cc chamber won't hurt at all. Otherwise you would have to mill it alot, around .036", to get it down to the 64cc range. Hope this helps
