I know a guy with a C5 that is claiming that he has a C5r block. Well, I believe him, but it made me wonder, are there any tell tale signs of a difference between an LS1 block and the C5R? I posted this in this forum because I thought this would be the most likley place to find some one with the experiance with a C5R block

I have seen them wet sumped. If I know who built that car I might be able to tell you where to find out whats in it. Like which shop assembled it.

The delivered, pre hone, bore size is 4.117", and the maximum finished bore size recommended with this block is 4.160". Cylinder deck height is 9.240". This block uses a dry, pressed-in liner similar to other GM racing aluminum small blocks. Steel billet bearing caps are fitted to the block. This block features wet sump style oiling and is made from high strength A356 aluminum that utilizes a modified T7 heat treat. Production Gen 3 style cylinder heads may be used on this block; however, for maximum performance, P/N 12480090 Gen 3 racing cylinder heads should be used.

C-5R blocks are made from cast 100% pure unobtainium. Like Kriptonite they will set off foreign car alarms and airport explosive detectors. The give away is they tend to glow in the dark with a strange bluish light.

They are 90% unobtainium and 10% cantaffordium. Do some research before you post.

It's much more expensive than the LS7 block.

Hey guys,
In my tenure with MTI I built a couple of dozen C5R block 427's. Just to settle the issue, C5R blocks have the exact same oiling system as a production block. No external oiling line.
