Default My experience with Patriot Performance

Hey everyone , let me tell you about my experience with Patriot Performance. About a year ago I purchased a heads /cam combo from a former vender of this site who I shall not name. The heads and cam were brand new and came with GM head gaskets and bolts and they looked beautiful. Well like most people it took a long time for me to buy all the things I needed so that I could install everything at one time and be done with it. About a month ago I finally had everything I needed and the time , so I tore my engine apart , took my time making sure everthing was hospital clean, and then installed my new HEADS/CAM and associated parts. I was down to the last few details to finish this project and I was measuring my lifter preload so that I could buy the correct length pushrods. The very first rocker I torqued down to 22 ft lbs just did not feel right so I loosened it up to see what was wrong. When I pulled the rocker assembly out of the head I saw what was the problem... the rocker bolt holes had steel thread inserts installed and the insert had come loose and came out with the rocker bolt. My heart sank because I knew all that work I had just done was for nothing because the heads had to come back off. I called Patriot the next day and told Gunnar what had happened and he said that they quit installing those inserts a few years ago. I guess these heads were one of the last sets to get these inserts and were in the venders shop for a while. Gunnar sent me a new box and a return shipping label the next day so that he could see what he could do to solve this problem. I sent the heads back to patriot on a monday and to my surprize I got the heads back that friday of the same week with all new upgraded inserts and they even re-surfaced the heads for me ... all at no charge of course . Now thats what I call customer service!!! I have since re-installed everything and all is fine ! I would like to say THANK YOU to Gunnar for everything he did for me! In closing, I would like to say to anyone who has any reservations about Patriots quallity or reputation..... this should speak volumes!

I went with their budget 243's because of their customer service, and also because of my tight budget.

I'm glad I did, 2 of the other "budget" head sponsors never even returned my PM's.
