Z06 Block in Production '00-'02 F-Body's ?
Just saw an article in GM HighTech Performance that said some '00-'02 F-Bodies came with the Z06 Vette block. The casting number is #12561168, and can be found on the driver's side deck near the firewall.
Is this a well kept secrect, or common knowledge?
Are there any weight differences between the regular production block, and the Z06?
Are there any horsepower advantages to be had with the Z06 block?
Anxious to here from y'all

Yeah, 10% of the '01s gotem, and about 25% of the '02s. No significant HP difference however the block is supposed to be significantly stronger. I dont know if having a LS-6 block means that you have LS-6 internals, but if so they are supposed to be balanced a little better.

Thanks Niphilli,
I suppose I'll have to crawl under my car this weekend to see if I have the winning numbers.

on the note of the Z06 (LS6) block, I checked under the hood of several 2003 C5s today (had to stop by the dealership) and all of them have LS6 blocks. It looks like the LS1 block is no longer produced, thus making the heads the only difference between new LS1s and LS6s.

Were the Z06(LS6) blocks installed randomly during production, or were they limited to specific makes, like the SS and Firehawk?
