Top end not getting oil
I did a heads cam install, and now the top end is not getting oil. What is weird is that I am still getting 40 PSI of oil pressure. Any ideas? What did I forget to hook up?

Re: Top end not getting oil
There is really nothing to forget other than the O-ring on the pick up tube. But if you have 40 PSI I be willing to bet that is in place. is it knocking???? If not just let it idle for a bit the lifters probably just bled down. They should fill back up with in a minute or two and quiet right down. There is really no way easy way to prime an LS1. You could pull the ECM fuse and the plugs and turn it over with the starter if you are really concerned.

Its either the oil pump o-ring or the molded on gasket on the cam retainer plate is damaged - or you didnt tighten it. If the oil pump o-ring was bad you should still get some oil up top, I drove/raced/dynod my vette with a damaged oil pump o-ring for a couple months before I fixed it and it was oiling fine up top - just noisy and low idle oil pressure.
How are you checking for oil up top? You wont see much through the filler hole, if it wasnt gettting oil it would be clattering like crazy.

This is with the 7.2 rods in there. Now that I took the valve cover off, I think it is getting oild, and I thik the rods are the solitary problem.
