Default Help Me Chose One Of The Following Cams.

I have a forged 347 with tea 5.3 heads and ALL supporting mods. The car will see a 200 shot occasionally. I have had many different cams, but I need a little help with this one. I want a nice lopy sound still. Here they are.

1. 612 612 244 244 on a 114

2. 608 612 240 244 on a 112

I do NOT see how the hell those are fitting haha. They 2nd one is similar to my cam and is a bit tight, and that's on stock heads.....won't you have less clearance with the 5.3's?

I also agree with number 2 but not sure about ptv clearance unless you are running some dished pistons

Both of them should lope nicely.

They are both MASSIVE cams, I assume flycutting will be necessary.

both cams will have plenty of lope
1. will have 16* of overlap
2. will have 18* of overlap

i would go #2, hope you got a good tuner! Youll for sure need some valve reliefs in them pistons

I have Diamond flat tops with valve reliefs and compstar rods. 0.40 cometic gaskets. I talked to comp and they said to use #1

Make sure you check PTV clearance so a valve doesn't put a hole in a piston.

I have the 240/244 .609/.612 XER cam w/ Diamond pistions (-2cc valve reliefs) .010 out of the hole, .045 cometic, 7.350 PRs, and milled 243s (by approx .018) with no PTV problems at all ...this cam is great! (although its in a 408, not a 347...)

Had it in running great for about 2wks before my rearend broke....

Regards,
