keep pcv or delete it?
I know this has been talked about for years, but I havent seen any real clear cut negatives besides crankcase pressure building up. what are the side effects that ya'll have had with removing your pcv. it seems to be 50/50 on whether to keep it or delete give me what you think.

Keep the PCV and add a catchcan. When I had breathers a gas smelling ooze would form at the neck where I had the breathers and eventually plug the breathers. I went to a cheap air compressor type filter and put the PCV back on.

I tried it all and eventualy went to basicaly an extended breather system using a vented catch can.
The tube from valve cover to tb is not part of the catch can system. The catch goes inbetween the pcv and the intake manifold. Thats why some people still have an oil problem even though they have a catch can.
I found that the only way to truely keep the oil from getting into the intake was to remove the whole system. Run a large diameter line from the oil cap to a vented catch.
Got rid of egr secondary air and pcv system. Car runs great , doesnt eat oil anymore.
Basics: Engine runs, builds heat gases expand need to be released. Cars used to be vented to atmosphere but the EPA changed that. This pressures gas contains atomomized oil. Each car mfg came up with a way to feed that oil laden gaseous air back into the intake and make the car eat it.
The ls1 has an extra tube from the pass valve cover to the TB and it enters before the blade. This is either fresh air in or pressure out, not real sure of its purpose to be honest with you, in my car it was a transport for oil to the tb blade so its gone. I have pictures of my setup in my fquick stuff. I mounted the can where there was room it it didnt look to bad. I run a 3/4" NHRA approved line and a moroso vented can.

I would first make a Home depot catch can out of PVC pipe and wire mesh and see if that works first. I tried it on my first LS1 and it worked fine. But on the car in the sig the Home depot catch can nor the AMW catch can worked at all, I still got oil mist through the catch can into the intake. Finally, the only thing that's worked for me was dual breathers.

I deleted mine, and about week later after my cam install a massive oil leak occured. Then kept trying to firgure out with the oil was coming from but couldnt tell b/c it was blowed all over the bottom of the car. Then i just decided to put the pcv system back on washed the bottom of the car off and the leak stopped

Tried the catchcan and junk, pain in the *** and still managed to suck oil. I know 4 other people including that deleted PCV and used breathers... no more oil in the intake. Have to wipe off the breather now and then.. big deal.lol.

I pulled my pcv and put a breather on the pass side in the oil fill neck. I then looped my ls6 valley cover to the pass side valve cover. I am not having any oil spray issues, and now my intake stays oil free as well.

I run the LS6 valley cover and LS6 PCV system with a breather in the oil fill hole on the pass side valve cover. The valve covers are from GMPP and have no holes or fitting on them. I welded a baffle under the oil fill hole to keep the oil from the rocker arms from throwing a lot of oil up into the breather..I clean the breather once a month with brake clean and compressed air. I have been running this combination of parts for about 40,000 miles now with no problems.

Even though I have dual filter/breathers on the valve covers, in addition I'm doing something similar to what your doing. I have one hose going from the LS6 valley cover, and two from the passengers side valve cover all tied together running behind the passengers side head right above the bell housing(No catch can or filters). No oil seems to be splashing down in that area also. I did this because my dip stick would pop out a 1/2 an inch some times and still does even though I have all these PCV vents and my compression test are good.
Nice engine BTW.
