or does one need to run it in limp mode till its sorted?
I was initially going to run a big cam but the more I read, the more I thought about toning things down a little. I am very pleased with my choice. I think some day I'll go bigger with more cubes and all the goodies, but for now it's a street car and I was going for a good combo with that in mind. I tend to be a little on the aggressive side with what I can tolerate which is why I sprang for the PT4400 and 4.10's.

I drove it 10 miles after I installed it for the tune, so very little seat time untuned. All I remember is having to two-foot it and no lock-up on the highway. I wouldn't have wanted to drive it any further.

it takes more than a cam. It takes a great combo of every bolt on you can do along with a great tune. You have to match everything together. I have a little 224/228 581/588 cam with a 12 bolt that has 4.30 gears and a steel driveshaft and I out perform A LOT of the bigger cams. I put down 452 rwhp and 408rwtq. A small cam can kick *** but a well matched big cam combo can do even better. I just got done flycutting my pistons and I'm about to do the small vs. big cam shootout. If all goes well I should be at or very near 500rwhp. If I threw the stock rear and stock driveshaft back in it I would break the 500 mark for sure. I should be able to do it with the 12 bolt

you dont need a "BIG" cam... you need a properly matched combo... as I have said before.

Properly matched combo? lol what about the exceptions such as myself? J/k, i like my combo and it works. Like someone said in page one, a ms3/4 matched with a big stall and tire will do its magic. 11.72@115 cam only, MS3. thats on completely stock suspension also, stock crank pulley, stock TB, stock 853 heads obviously.
