Re: Can you re-use the timing cover gasket?
Scott,
I did, and I havn't had a problem. Mine was even bent a little if I remember right so we just straightened it and used it. We couldn't find my new one. The funny thing is, when I go the motor in and was cleaning the garage I found it go figure. Good luck on your new motor. I was at Palmdale a few months ago when you ran the car. It looks like a fun ride. When do you plan on going again??

Cool, thanks guys.
Glenn, It really depends on when I get all of the parts back. I am guessing that I will be up and running in the next 2-3 weeks. I will probably need a few days to dial the car in tuning wise as well. I am going to target being done and at the track by the 9th of July.

And if it leaks just think of the fun you'll have. I know it cost money, but to me gaskets are a no brainer. When in doubt, replace it.

I have reused mine four times now without leaks. I don't use any silicone on it. I do torque the bottom two cover bolts and front bolts so the cover pulls towards the engine and pan at the same rate.

From what I've read and been told you can re use almost all of the gskts(except head gaskets of course) with no problem...of course it's always up to the person doing the job....I would say if it looks in good shape why not??
