Default Can You Run Yella Terra Ultralights With TFS 215 Heads?

Hi,

I've noticed that a few of the TFS 215 dyno pulls I've seen seem to drop off pretty hard around 6600rpm or so. I'm wondering if some of this is due to the high inertia/mass Harland Sharp rockers, that you are supposed to run the TFS heads with.

Has anyone checked the geometry of the TFS 215s with the Yella Terra Ultralights. I've seen a dyno pull with just this rocker swap on a set of AFRs from stock, and they gained a consistent 9rwp peak, from the reduced inertia/mass. So I'd really like to run these, IF they won't mess up the TFS geometry.

I've also heard a rumor that TFS changed the geometry of its LS1/LS2 heads recently, to make them more compatible with stock rockers. Is that true?

I hope Brian Tooley is reading this :-)

Thanks.... And the 02Z06 is STILL stock, waiting on funds and a kitchen pass from the Mrs :-)

In the meantime, I'm just planning the NA daily driver buildup. Current plans:

Callaway Honker
LG Pros/Cats
EDC 220/224 .595/.595 114
Yella Terra Ultralights?
TFS 215s
Vengeance Fast90

Shooting for 470rwhp, with ZERO bucking/drivability issues, on my 2002-Z06.

I run the YT ultralites on my TFS 235 heads..... have not had any issues

sounds like you problems may be springs, but that cam should not be to much for even the base TFS springs....... going to have to defer to Brian on this one

Since we went with the max pressure spring as the only spring we use with the TFS heads almost a year ago, we have not seen any type of valve float. The max pressure spring is the same as the optional AFR 8019 upgrade spring, 160 seat and 450 open.

About 6 months ago TFS changed their geometry to be more like stock GM, rather than being optimized for roller rockers. These castings have a serial number that starts with the letter C and use a 7.500” long pushrod. This new geometry is basically compatible with stock rockers, however, stock rockers will cause bronze guides to wear, so TFS recommends that you don’t run stock rockers.

The geometry with the Yella Terra's is fine with the TFS heads also.

Thanks to everyone for the information, and for Mr. Tooley himself, for giving us the inside scoop. I love this board.
