Hmmm, I'm running 918's with the blue stripe from when they had the first round of problems and the blue stripe ones were the 'new' version. I'm guessing they are circa 2003'ish. I know I still have the box somewhere... but for the cost of a new set of springs, and the hassle to remove them, who knows. Knock on wood, they've been good and I've only put about 8-10k miles on them in the past 4 years.

Personally, I like the fact that they are a beehive spring and help reduce the mass over the valve, which is a good thing.

Bri is correct,a single beehive is 6 grams lighter than a dual and thats using a steel retainer. If u go tothe TI retainer it evens gets lighter and this is a good thing for the valvetrain...
Beehives have a better control too...
U need to do some reading...
Its a myth about dual springs being safer...
Again u need to do some reading..
Go over to ED's messege board and check out some posts regarding dual vs single.
Duals have there place but for most guys running under .600 I believe they are
a waste and depending on the application Comp/PAC/PSI all have a single beehives rated from .580 to .650 too...
JMHO.....

I went the extra mile and bought the titanium retainers. I'd love to get a set of lighter valves, but that would mean a new valve job on the heads as well.

yep your corect .625 not .650 lift, my mistake
yes the new 918's are on sale now too
its the only 918 spring you can buy from COMP now
if you buy them from another company you might get the older ones but its all comp now sells for the 918's

You wouldn't get any old crapper ones from PAC, since it the ones from Comp got from associate or wherever those mexican made POS are from. I'll stick with PAC from now on. The quality 918's that comp had previously were made by PAC as well FYI. For anyone wondering the PAC equivalent to 918's are PN 1218, and the upgraded springs that have similar specs to the 1218's but are good to .650" lift are PN 1518. I run the 1518's now, and have about 5k hard miles on them with over .600" lift with an aggressive custom cam profile.
