Default Lol.....not another "what about this cam" question!!

OK, car will have TEA St. 2 5.3 heads, LS6 Intake, Hooker LT's, 3" true duals w/x-pipe, bullets, and turn downs before the rear axle, stock rear end w/3.42's for the time being, RAM 6130/402 combo, and eventually a 12-bolt with either 4.10's or 4.30's, haven't decided yet. I will also have tuning done after I finish the install.

The cam I have been tossing around in my head reads like this: 228/228 .588/.588 110 LSA 106 ICL
I really like the tighter lobe separation, as it will bring the peak power down, and that combined with the 106 ICL should give a bunch of torque all over the place. I never plan to spray this motor, so that's why I came up with numbers like this.

So, what do you guys think?

I think you better go with the 4.30's . . .

With the 110 lsa, and the 106 icl, it really shouldn't be that bad with the 3.42's for the time being.

Check out this post with a guy running a somewhat similar cam, just a lil smaller, on stock heads, making extremely impressive power, and even more torque! He's making over 350 ft. lbs. of torque at 2500 rpm's!

How about 232/232 106 LSA 108 ICL

Your idea sounds good. Maybe tighten the LSA to 108.

Really? You'd suggest a 108 LSA for a car that's going to be driven on the street everyday? I have no problem going to 232! How would all this affect my powerband? And what about P to V clearance? The heads will be milled .030.

Well, well, well. So this is what's been going on in that sick head of your's huh B? LoL If it wasn't already, should be a BEAST when this is through with. What kind of timeframe we looking at?

As for a recommendation, I'm not going to make one, because you know that I don't know enough to give you an accurate answer

Making the LSA smaller will give you less off-idle torque than before, that's why you need the lower gears; 3.42's will be a PITA with this cam getting off the line. I know it's confusing, but smaller LSA's bring down the peak rpm but they also raise the lowest useable rpm; you are getting a narrower and more peaky rpm range.

Good point. So how bout the same cam on a 111 LSA and on a 108 ICL? Would that make it a lil more useable?

I wouldnt worry about off idle torque. Its not that hard to slip the clutch from 2500 rpms.

Sounds like you want the midrange torque of DAB's cam with a little more topend. The cam specs you named should do it.

Id love to see a max effort combo with 1 7/8" headers, 12.5:1 compression, and 106 LSA cam with lots of duration to rev to 7200rpms.

Yes, I think so. You'll still want the gears at some point though. IMO 3.42 is too high for a M6 even with the stock cam. Everyone has their own opinion on this, but those that have actually tried a big cam with a high rear end know what I'm talking about.

The 3.42's are just a temporary thing anyway, just until I get my 12-bolt. I was just wondering what it's going to be like for the short time I have them.
