Default strange tapping noise!!!!!

i just installed new 243 heads and once the car warmed up and i took it for a ride through my neighborhood and once i got back i let it sit and run for a while it started to make this strange tap noise..........and my engine light all of a sudden came on and i scanned it it had 2 knock sensor codes and a random multiple misfire code....could it be 1 of my rockers not being all the way tight or maybe just backed out....????????any help plz????????????

knock and misfire could point to vavletrain, but if the misses are on multiple cylinders then it's not just one rocker causing the problem

Did you replace your lifters when you were in there? I know when I had a few collapsed lifters it would make quite a clanking noise. I didn't let it run long enough to see if the knock sensors would be set off. Where the heads milled any? If so did you get the correct pr lengths?

Is there any way for you to get a video?

Ok then, have you checked the plugs for cracks and made sure that the wires are all the way on? This could be the problem for the multiple misfire. Do you have a 98? Some of the early built 98's knock sensors would throw false readings.

A cracked flexplate can make a tap noise also. There are tons of things that it could be. It's really hard to diagnose without being there

i didnt mean actual detaonation, i meant knock sensor codes...

anyway, if your throwing misfire codes on one cylinder it might by a rocker or a lifter but if you're throwing misfire codes on multiple cylinders, knock sensors or not, it's more then on bad component

Are you cammed at all? I know that when my buddy did my tune, he lightened up the sesitivity on the knock sensor for the cam. That's the most common code thrown after an install, random missfire.
