Typical price of sleeving an LS1 block?
Not looking to go with a different block and messing with reluctors and crap.. just want to do some more cubes over the winter if cash allows. I will be nowhere near needing the capabilities of an LSX block and I want to stay as light as possible.

The ERL sleeving is around 2800 with their block, not sure what it costs to use your own block. When they prep a block it has steel main caps and mainstuds and a larger bore. We normally use the 4.125 bore, but they have some larger and smaller diameters. You probably could buy a block with stock main caps to save money.

about one large for install sounds about right...i plan on going with darton 4.125s for what it's worth. keeping the weight over the front end down is important to me too, probably not for the same reason as you tho lol

I too have the same question. I even bought a cheap block with a cracked sleeve to get this done but for the money it looks like it is better to get a LSX block or mabey a factory 6.0 block.
Well, if you have a boring machine, milling machine, heavy duty press, and some liquid nitrogen (depening on the type of sleeve) , then yeah give it a shot.
