241's are,,they will not top the 243 (LS6) heads in flow and performance, but can be ported to make some good numbers. Some 241's have been ported well enought to outflow 243's up to .400 lift. Most folks will be inclined to tell you to just get the 243's. Depends on the wallet, at least that is my reasoning for wanting to do up my 241's. For now.

really depends on what you're end goal is.

the 241s can be ported and milled to produce good numbers.

if you want max power out of your setup....then better heads are the key.

but if you're just looking for a nice boost in power. stick with what you have.

by the way...what cam?

there are plenty of people running ported 241's and making good power. one of my friends had ported 241's and a lil 226 cam and he consistently ran 11.2's in a full weight daily driven car, that is pretty impressive.

I'm in the same boat...
For the price of getting my 241's ported I was going to get a set of Patriot Performance Heads. Problem is I don't know which ones to put on my 04 GTO...
#2007 or #2009 LS1 Stage II Assy. Heads
or can I go with a LS6 head like:
#2031 Stage II Assy. Heads 2.055"/1.57"/64cc
or the larger
#2015 Stage III Assy. Heads 2.08"/1.60"/64cc

http://www.patriot-performance.com

I will be adding a set of headers, no cats, a PP 85mm intake & tb (F.A.S.T. 90 throttle body & intake if I can swing the $$$), 1.7 full roller rockers, comp cam (either a 224/230 .581 intake, .592 exhaust 114 lsa Comp Cam xer or a Comp Cam 230/232 .591 intake, .595 exhaust 114 lsa, & a professional re-program of the computer job.

If you wanna be sneaky do the 241 castings, in general no one will know the diff unless its a LSX guru who know the castin #'s.

I would NEVER touch any Patriot head.

I would look at TFS, AFR, or one of the Sponsor heads

honestly people on here think that ported ls1 heads suck but they dont. There are alot of people running them and putting down numbers that are just as good as the people runing ported 243's or 5.3 heads. Honestly you can get them to flow over 300cfm and any head that flows that well is gonna make good power.

That is an excellent question. Some people are still looking at some issues we had several years ago which we have long since resolved. Here at Patiot we use only the best parts, technology, and personel to produce our heads. Every once in a while a "hater" will surface. But if you will do the research, you will see that there are thounsands of very happy customers. If you have any questions about our products, please let us know.

We have ported 241's on our Camaro SS and made 15-20 more rwhp than a car with a similar setup running AFR 205's ( 5 rwhp variance on some runs on the same dyno, similar conditions). Not that this is normal at all, but does show that 241's can be good for power when treated to the right massaging and bits.

Needless to say our 241's started out as Absolute Speed Stage II, then afterwards got touch up porting (opened up a little more and then roughed out), a new valve job (had the valves radius back cut (2.02 in/ 1.575 ex) and then hand lapped for better air flow), had bronze valve guides fitted, and spring seat pressure checked and shimmed, and finally milled .025.

Both cars are stalled built A4's, with Fast 90/90, bolt-on (ours has a standard water pump vs a EWP). Our car is running a custom ground cam from ECS (East Coast Supercharging) vs an off the shelf MS3.

Where we are in CA we paid $400 for a local shop to do the touch up porting, cleaning, bronze valve guides, valve job done above, mill, and then assemble and verify spring seat pressure. We supplied all of the parts (new SS Rev valves, Patriot bronze valve guides and dual gold springs/retainers/seats etc).

Gunnar at Patriot is an awesome fellow and helped us get all the parts we needed to finish our heads at a dang fine price!

Mind you that our heads started out as Stage II ported heads, and we just had them treated/repaired/cleaned.

We can CNC port your heads, do our 5 angle valve job, hand blend, and mill per your specs for $650.00.
