Finally!
Well, it didn't come without some disappointment. Here's the deal.
02 WS-6 M6
G5X2 Cam package
Super Lousy Performance headers, cats and Y
GMAFS
Volant intake
Stock 10 bolt w/3.42s
295/35/18 rear tires
Baseline dyno was 309/310
Today, after fighting with the MAF and trying to overcome SLP headers, it put down 388rwhp and 350tq.
I was a bit disappointed but not at all surprised. I know the headers are hurting me and they're coming off this weekend and the stock MAF is going in as the GMS gave A/F hassles throughout the tune. Anyway, stay tuned for an exhaust change and re-dyno.
The C5 we did was also tuned today but I won't steal his thunder and post his results will verify that my headers and MAF are the holdup. I'll wait till he posts.

i dunno why everyone thinks SLP hurt there performance? Ive got SLP's and to me a header is a header.... I doubt you would see enough HP from another header to justify the cost!
good numbers still though man!

Well, I don't wanna blast SLP but I be a liar if I said it wasn't the consensus of every tuner I've ever talked to. The shop where the car was tuned said it, the tuner who does the package said it. I should also mention that my 13 month old SLP headers have completely rusted through the coating on the outside and I'm sure on the inside. I can't think airflow is optimal if it's rusted on the inside.
Either way, once I get them off and get a different set on, I'll re-dyno and post up what happens. I hope I can prove you wroung 98TAauto!
Oh yeah, the 99 C5 we did with the same cam put down 398rwhp on the same Mustang dyno that I did 388. The only difference between our 2 cars is that he has TPIS headers, aside from that, all other things should be equal

Yeah it was APE, also dynoed there. My numbers were so bad I will not post until LS6 intake and ported throttle body are in for a re-dyno-tune

I'm not upset with the cam at all, it's an absolute blast to drive and it sounds meaner that anything.
Like G2 LS1 said, cats and mustang dyno (and I said SLP headers), for some reason the granatelli kept screwing with the A/F so I don't think they got it exactly where they wanted. A set of thunder racing headers, dr. gas x pipe and some dumps should solve the problem. Stock maf too!

I would love to see you just swap the headers and see what you picked up. My car has always dynoed low for some reason and I would love to know if these headers are holding me back. If you change your whole set-up you may spend more money then you needed and never know if it was your headers. If you go with an x pipe and dumps and pick up 15 horse I wouldn't blame the headers.

"- Correct me if Im wrong, but I believe this was conducted at APE, which is a Mustang Dyno."
You have to enter the "Dynojet vs. Mustang" correction factor to get the numbers correlated.
Tack on about 20rwhp and you're right about there. 400 at the wheels with a cam swap is nothing to sneeze at....
"Today, after fighting with the MAF and trying to overcome SLP headers, it put down ***408rwhp*** and ***370tq***."
I'd take it to the track once before I'd swap the headers.
*** EDIT:
Last year, when I was at APE, Stage 2 Katech headed cars were struggling to put down 400 rwhp on that dyno. Personally, I would be well pleased with those results. ***

MYBLKSS: Doing just the headers will be pretty tough without getting a new Y-pipe. If the new headers will magically match up to the slp Y-pipe, I'll do a full back to back comparison and see. From what everyone said, 8-10hp and about 15ft/lbs of torque should be easy with a different set of headers.
Also, I'm hoping the MAF change will allow them to dial it in a bit closer.

thats a pretty good number, don't you add 15% to the horsepower figure to get your estimate that a dynojet would give your car? which would be 446.2 rwhp, correct me if i'm wrong!

Good numbers, thuogh it does seem as if something maybe holding you back. I havn't had a chance to dyno mine yet, hopefully soon though.
Out of curiosity... Where did it peak? What did you set your rev limiter at?

I have also spoke with people and vendors that do not like the SLP headers, I decided to switch mine for some hookers, Also I was told by a sponsor that the SLP y pipe will fit with the hookers but that you will have to go to a muffler shop to have them fill a 3-4 inch gap on the passenger side. The hooker y is so cheap though you may as well get it.

When I first looked at your numbers, I didn't see that it was a Mustang Dyno. The comparable dynojet numbers would be very close to being in line. We have seen from 404rwhp to 425 rwhp(on short belt freak car).
Sounds like the 398rwhp C5 is one of the 420 something cars.
thanks for the heads up on the results.

We use SLP headers all the time and don`t see any problems in HP. I have seen less HP out of Hookers and want to talk about rusting the Hookers don`t last a few months. I have had a set of SLP`s on the shop WS6 for 3 years the bottoms are a little disscolored but NOT rusty at all. Have you talked with SLP about a rust issue they may help you out.

Nasty N8: Yeah, I talked to SLP and they're gonna send me a new set. I'm not a big fan of the way I have to go about doing it though. I have to take them off the car and send them in, wait for approval and then they send a new set. Minimum down time for the car is at least 3 weeks.
When I get the new ones, I'm selling them and going a different route.
Lou, I hope Tom's car was able to shut up the naysayers on the other forum, I know I was shocked when I heard his results. I also understand that MD's are lower than Dynojets, but I think I can pull a little over 400 out of it with the work mentioned. Thanks for an awesome cam Lou!

My SLPs rusted badly, after a year on the car, near the collectors. I switched to QTPs when I went with my larger engine, but if I gained anything with them Id be surprised. I think most tuning shops dont like the slps because they are a pain to work with -- I really dont think there is a huge difference in power output.
I think 388 is pretty damn stout for a mustang dyno...I would definately not be complaining for cam only numbers.
