The MS4 is a much larger cam, it will produce much more power through out the whole rev range, it will require double valve springs. It is a high rev cam too though, having a 3000 to 6800 power range peaking at about 6300 rpm range, getting more violent as the revs climb. It is a great upgrade from your current cam

Make DAMN sure your springs are fresh and up to it. It lifts .649" on the intake. Duals are required!!! Not an option.

That 224 is a toy cam next to it.

what is your current setup? stroker, heads? you will have to flycut the pistons more than likely. it is a cam designed for stock displacement LS1's in mind

I have tsp's 233/239 witch is right behind the ms3 witch is right behind the MS4... Let me tell you your peak power will not be 6300.. Mine is 65-6600, yours will be 6700 maybe even 68.... The lift is more, and so is the duration... The only thing you have is a 110 lsa (or 111) to my 112 witch will lower the band slightley but it does rev high. Having said that the difference from the old cam to this one is probably about the difference from the 224 from the stock cam.

Dont go that big unless you are gonna go with a nice set of heads. i kinda regret going with the MS3, my torque is kinda weak. I need heads to set this cam off.

dragkid, my power band peaks at 6350rpm and stay flat till 6800 rpm with little falloff, it all depends on your tune

I dont care if you do have some lingenfelter goodies, power isnt made by a name... honestly, look up some info about your kit, and actually hit up a dyno.. that is a joke to say you have so much power from a 224 cam... its not magic, its math... and even if you are running 40x cubes, you arent going to make that kind of power at the wheels with a baby 224 cam, sorry try again... maybe in your freetime, try and read up on it a bit... also.... didnt know lingenfelter supplied Thunder Racing grinds with their engine kits...

what a joke

also, i know the stock ls1 is fine with rpms, but jumping 1000rpms is quite a bit, how much more risk is the engine at with that cam?

here is your input, we need more information on "your" setup and thats the only way you are going to get any, legitimate advice on your magical 500 horsepower 346 ls1... better have a pretty good blower on that thing... and if so, you dont want the ms4 cam...

a guy I know from around town named John has the MS3 cam (really similar) and he has had it for awhile and runs it through an auto with a 3500 stall... I mean, he has some help because of his sd tune and a few extra cubes with the iron 370 he has, but its comparable to an ls1 and it has decent street manners.. not a bad cam, but I am comparing an ms3 cam, and you are speaking of an MS4...
and speaking of raising the powerband like that, I dont think it will harm the engine, as long as your tune and hardware are up to the task... so many engines blow up due to improper tuning, rather than an elevated powerband...

My friend has been thinking of these MS3 and MS4 cams and waht kind of power are they putting down and we are especially interested in the times at the track they are getting out of them. Thanks Jr.

Check out the media section and type in 10.36.... it should bring up John's pass in his silver TA. Its an Iron 370 with an MS3 cam and Patriot Stage III heads with a FAST 90/NW 90 and a 125 shot. just check him out and look at his set up, pretty good little combo and he drives the thing around a bit too.. I dont know if he has had it dynoed, but the proof is in the pudding, you can WATCH him run a 10.36 right here on tech.
