Will changing my valve seals stop the oil burning?

Oil burning can come from a variety of places. Do you notice smoking or just oil consumption over certain periods of time? What are the symptoms? These motors are notorious for consuming oil through the PCV system.

Yeah the oil burning could be PCV related, I just had to dump my PCv system, it was guzzling oil.
A good way to tell if its the PCV is to replace the spark plugs. If the plugs all have oil buildup on the tips and have oil on the threads than its the PCV. If the oil is only on like 1 or 2 plugs then it could be the valve seals on that cylinder or the oil ring on the piston.

i think if it were the oil rings the car would blow blue smoke at any speed, and you would see a lot of oil the catch can.
change the seals out, it is time consuming but worth every penny.
my car was smoking at WOT, especially when the rpm were passing the 4500rpm mark, it was also smoking when letting off the throttle after WOT, some blue smoke during startups as well, but it wasn't very often. the car was literally eating 1 quart of oil every 3 days, i drive 650 miles a week, so i was pumping 1 quart every 400 miles more or less.
i was concerned because the engine had 24k miles, cam only as well, cam went in at 14k miles, and i didn't have any oil comsuption problems before the cam, it was only after i installed the cam that i started to see the smoke during engine startups initially. it happend gradually though, it was fine for the first 7k miles, then all of a sudden, one month it wouldn't burn any oil, the next one i was carrying an oil bottle in my trunk just in case.
i did a little research and found what i told you in the beginning, so i just opened the valve covers and looked at my valve springs, just looking at them i saw 2 valve seals that were basically sitting underneath the valves. i took the valvetrain apart and found all the seals in the exhaust ports were messed up as well as 2 more on the intake side.
i replaced them all with new seals, i also changed valve springs and retainers and it's all good now. the engine doesn't burn/consume any oil at all. i have a catch can as well, and i take maybe 2 spoons out every month or so, it was like that even when i was burning oil because of the seals.
pop the valve covers and take a look, you should be able to see the seals from there.
Good Luck

If it’s blowing blue smoke when you let off at a high RPM, it sounds like oil is being pulled through the oil rings. Letting off at high RPM’s when in gear puts a strong vacuum in the cylinder. Typically at first start, if blue smoke blows out it’s the valve stem seals. Let the car sit over night, and when you first crank it in the morning see if blue smoke blows out.

At 134k, changing the valve seals might not be a bad idea anyway, and it's a whole bunch easier than doing the rings. IMO, it's a good question and an easy choice. My $0.02.
