Default Broken valve spring

On the way back from getting some fine tuning done on my T/A, I noticed a "machine gun" sound coming from the drivers side of my engine. I stopped on the side of the road and a friend towed me to his place and I opened my valve covers and found 2 valve springs snapped in half on the drivers side. I ran my car for about 8 to 10 miles on the broken valve springs. I found a piece of a valve spring and valve seal ring sitting in the head bolt section of my head. I was wondering what are the chances of any shards ending up in my block.

If they drained down with oil they should come out with an oil change and magnetic plug. I would be more concerned about the valves hitting the pistons while you were driving it.

I don't think debris from the spring or seal will be a problem, I would be concerned with how much banging the valve did against the piston. Replace all the springs and seals, change the oil and fish the pan with a magnet and see what you have from there.

I havent taken the springs off yet but from what I can tell so far the inner springs held up.

my motor gave way after driving on a broken valve spring. i changed the broken one out and replaced it and it still blew up i guess the valve cracked the piston.

Yeah really sucks that they barely lasted 6 weeks with no WOT runs.

It happened to me years ago and I was able to just install new springs and drive away. I guess I got lucky. I'm pretty sure I was running single coil springs too.
