Everyone's going for narrower LSA, what would I be giving up running a 114/G5X1?

Default Everyone's going for narrower LSA, what would I be giving up running a 114/G5X1?

The cam is 228/232 114(+2 or +4 I'm not sure), I would also have a 3.73 rear gear ratio and heads at 62cc. I would prefer the tamer idle with the ory/bullet/gmmg, what would I give up shifting at 6700?

Giving up? I dont know what you mean. You'll just have your peak HP higher in the power band that's all.

As that sounds like a good shift point for a cam of those specs, I'm not sure I know what you mean by "giving up".

I don't think that cam is meant to rev that high...probably more like a shift of 6300-6500 rpm. You should base your shift point after dynoing the car...you can pick the shift points better seeing where peak torque is.
That is an excellent street cam...I think that LG Motorsports promotes it making over 400 rwhp cam only (plus bolt-ons). I considered it, but went a little bigger in the end.
Another popular cam is Comp 228/232 110 +2 ground on XE-R lobes.
Idle quality really won't be different between any of those cams..110, 112, 114...they can all be tuned to sound exactly the same at idle. You might be surprised at how tame the 110 is.

moving the lsa up does make the engine run smother but it also makes it kind of lazy at the bottom end.

On a 114+4, that cam will peak about 6300-6500, but your proper shift point will depend on the curve. 6700-6800 is probably about right for best shift recovery.

Also, on 114 LSA, that cam has only 2 degrees overlap. On a 110, it has 10 degrees. Its not enough to be a real pain to tune, but it will definitely have more lope with 8 additional degrees of overlap.

I've tuned 2 on 110 and they take some work... a bit more than you'd expect for the size to be honest, the A4 worse than the M6. I did one on a 112 and it was a bit finicky too through an A4.

Thanks guys. I just noticed I had kind of worded the title wrong, by "giving up" I was referring more to power under the curve not just the shift point. I know I could pick up some using narrower LSA but I had figured the 62cc heads would help the low end.

the 110 "they take some work" you got right it took me two days and I still experiment every once on a while.
