Good luck with your new cam! I'm also considering the TR224 for my conversion.
I noticed that you have a ported MAF and A4, and was wondering if you've noticed any (A4) shifting irregularities? I've read several threads on this site that cautioned against porting the MAF if you own an A4. Apparently, porting is related to low fluid pressures and can lead to transmission failure. Thanks, Glenn

Ok I am lost here What do you mean about low fluic pressure??? can you explain further.... but I did not notice any irregularities when I ported the MAF

Nice choice. As for the PMAF, there is some people thathave experienced problems having the Ported MAF and the flow signal it sends ot the computer, ultimately leading to problematic shifting and trans failure. Something about it, do a search, maybe go back 6mo or a year and you can read on it. I descreened mine....no problems. My friends are Ported and no problems either. who knows.
Again, enjoy and post up some times with it.

The search is not working tonight. I've tried to find a very long thread on maf porting with contributions from the Colonel, Patman, and a host of others. The essence of it as I recall, was that by porting an maf, the velocity of incoming air is altered, and a relationship between that velocity and transmission line pressure is altered. The thread would re-explain the details. According to those folks, this affects the longevity of the A4.
I will also have the A4 and ported maf. So far, I haven't heard of any negative experiences with this setup. That was the nature of my question. Glenn

I have the same cam in my M6, going through Hooker Long Tubes and a flowmaster full exhaust. The lope when idling, even with my misfiring...LOL, makes you want to druel(sp). From about 2600 RPMs on, it pulls like crazy. I have no tuning and no LS6 intake either. Surprised with the awesome gas mileage too...on a full tank on the highway between 80 and 90 mph, I got 24.6 miles to the gallon!!

about the whole ported MAF ends and tranny failure, it killed mine. tranny guy scanned the comp i guess but he found a drop in line pressure and the only thing i had swapped was the ported MAF ends. i guess i was one of the unlucky ones. so back to stock i went and no problems in 4k miles.

How's it idle now without the tuning? Any stalling or surging?
