Default Which Package to produce most power

Both are from Texas Speed. I'm wondering which is better... I ask because I don't know a lot about AFR. So which setup should I go for...

AFR 205cc LS1 Cylinder Heads & Cam
Rollmaster Double Roller Adjustable Timing Set
Heads Cam GM Gasket Set
TSP Ported LS6 Oil Pump
MS3 Camshaft
$3150

OR...

Precison Race Components Stg 2.5 LS6 Heads & Cam
Rollmaster Double Roller Adjustable Timing Set
Heads Cam GM Gasket Set
TSP Ported LS6 Oil Pump
MS3 Camshaft
$2300

The AFR's will.. not that the PRC heads aren't good, just that AFR is a nice aftermarket casting with a better runner design.

How much more power will the afr's make?

Is it worth about 1000 dollars worth of differnce?

Good question. I'd like to know this too.

From the size of the runners, the AFR heads will give more under the curve performance with torque at the lower end. Those ls6 heads are 235 cc intake runners or more.

As stated above the AFR castings have more design and more investment in the casting process that enables a better product right off the bat. Think of them as Willie May's son. They are sprung from finer genetics. The result is comparable flow at large valve lifts, and a probable advantage in low to medium lifts (don't have the flow numbers handy), despite being handicapped with smaller runners.

As for the worth, that is up to you! I'm personally not willing to throw down that kind of cash for the differential in performance, perhaps because I have an ability to generate my own results. Everybody knows that the AFR heads are one of the top two or three heads for the LS engines, and I'd even go as far as to say that the 205's have a more favorable opinion than the AFR 225's, for the torquier characteristic as stated above.

How much more power will the afr's make?
That will depend on the overall setup/combination. For this comparison though, it'd be my inclination that again the AFR will shine in power under the curve, but make comparable amounts of top end. If a street driver enjoyment is the main concern, then AFR. If drag racer weekend performance is what you want, it could very well be a push!

There is no cam in your parts list, so there is no indication of what kind of powerband you want!

I believe that the PRC LS6 are ~230cc runners, they downsized them after reviewing the CNC on them.

AFRs have better velocity, more PTVC, dual quench pads. All in all a better design depending on combo desired.

is 30rwhp or less worth the difference in $$, well that is relative to your pocket size. The AFRs have better resale value as well.

How much power do you think I'd be running with my future (hopefully) setup???

Stock internals, AFR 205cc, LS6 ported oil pump, ms3 cam, Kooks longtube headers, 3" Cat'd (hi flow) Y, GMMG Catback exhaust, Plus ported tb, filter, lid, synthetics..... maybe better plugs... full dyno tune. ??? (My motor only has like 3k on it too)

I'm wondering wut the power could be close too.

I dyno'd 306 rwhp in August 07. Bone stock, even stock filter.

I'll venture the 410-420 range. Milling? Gaskets? Auto or stick?

I'm not conversant in nitrous so I can't comment correctly. From what I've read, forged pistons and better rod bolts.

445+ depending on intake, waterpump, ud pulley, and tune. 480 rwhp isn't out of the question, for sure. It might be wise to look into Patrick G and Predator-Z Cams'. Pat G is running over 500 rwhp with the afr 205's.

I could set you up with a docile cam and make over 450 rwhp. If you want a loper, more than that.
If you keep the car catted, look at a smaller cam than MS3 with less overlap.
I dunno what are your emmision laws in your area, I would check that first and make a decision.

That would be awesome! I'm looking for something with a nice musclecar lope at idle, something that sounds like an MS3. I like that. I would be pairing it with at GMMG exhaust, and I dont care about cats or emission laws, and for etesting i'll swap out the offroad Y to my stock one or something. It wouldent be a big deal. and I work at a Chev Cadillac dealership so i can get emissions tested/passed easy.

so I'd like a fairly aggresive cam with really good mid-upper power. my goal is 450-500 rwhp by head cam, some intake stuff, full exhaust. Then maybe dabble in n20. I'd be extatic with 450rwhp!

its a 2002 Camaro Z28 6 Speed fully optioned convertible (little heavy so i want it fast lol)

230/240 .612/.608 112+4 LSA it is a custom grind (TSP can grind it), XFI/XE-R
AFR 205 milled 62 cc, Cometic .045 gasket

11* overlap, nice chopchop

That with 90/90, + bolt ons will get you 450rwhp with good tuning
