I have never had a problem with them. I've only used them in two motors though, but they work. You never know if you get one with a flaw though, its almost impossible to produce everything in mass perfect but I would figure they have some tight regulations on letting them out.

I have seen an Eagle H beam twist in a Hi comp circle track motor but those things go threw hell, I dont blame it.

Just went with a set of their 6" 3D H beams for my new marine 385ci SBC. They all specd out nice. Everything perfect on the small and large ends and all within 1 gram out of the box from Eagle.

I used eagle H beam 3D rods 6.125 with L19 rod bolts in my LS6 347 and in my LS2 418 both with a 250 shot of nitrous with no problems at all

Blanco,

We've used 100s of sets with no problems. I got the guys at Eagle to start making the on-center LS1 stuff and now they are selling them like hotcakes. Right now they are temporarily out of them (on-center LS1s that is) but they will be back in stock soon and I am sure some of the Vendors to the right have some still in stock right now though. They are pretty light at about 615-620 grams or so a set and they are very nice.

I use them and the Callies Compstar on 90 percent of the stuff we do and they are both very nice parts. The Compstars are a little more but come with ARP2000 bolts already. The Compstars are also on-center LS1 specific as well.

Not to sound like the ignoramus I am but... What do you mean by "on center"? Does that mean that both cheeks of the rods are the same distance from the center of the rod?

Yes you are right. Regular small block chevy rods are offset away from the fillet and have a big chamfer there. Since the LSx uses rolled fillets in stock form the bores are located right over the rod journals and are totally symetrical with no offset.

If I may ask, Do these rods need any preparation or can you use them as delivered?

I always check pin clearance but I do that on any rod so yes they can be used without any special preparation as can any in this thread.

it seems like piston choice is a bigger concern with the ls1 than the rods.

with that said are there any rods that have given people problems?

Some rods will give you problems with some pistons as far as fit but I have never really had any "rod problems" to speak of with anything we have used in the last 800 engines we've done. That includes Eagle and Callies and Lunati and SCAT and Oliver etc.

We also thouroughly check everything out when we are putting engine together. Most "rod problems" are clearance and/or oiling related 95% of the time to tell people the truth. They generally "fail" during assembly or are put into a condition to fail later during assembly when people don't know what they are doing.

I don't typically redo the stock rods though as they lose all rod bearing choices when you resize them to the bigger housing ID and the bolts are very small and most are press fit at the pin end. As far as the rest though obviously there are rods that lend themselves more to brute strength and other to lightness.
