Default Giving up on modded LS1, need new stock motor

Well I made the mistake of going for a heads and cam package. Now a year later I still cant drive my Corvette and I have had enough. I need to find a new LS1 to drop in and this one is going to the gun range. Its worth the money just to shoot at it for a few days. Anyone know where I can get a stock motor new for a decent price? Thanks.

went with heads and cam package, very agreesive or so I was told. I have a slight ticking noise that is now getting louder and louder. The guy who did it keeps replacing parts (at my expense) and nothing changes. DRM in MN did not know what was causing the noise, seems like no one does. I just want my car back and running right. Thinking of taking it to MTI and doing a 383 stroker and let them use what they can from my current motor (heads/cam/intake/underdrive pully/pushrods etc) to bring the price down some. But I dont know what happened and cant seem to find anyone that can figure it out.

If lifters and pushrods are replaced a strong possibility is it's piston related. I also started getting tapping after my cam + head work. Replaced lifters and pushrods and it didn't change. However, #4 did show signs of major piston slap. I've tried pulling part throttle timing and it seems to help a bit.

Could be a rod knock if everything in the valve train has been ruled out.

Try Billy Graham's Salvage. Last I talked to him he had a bunch of LS1s pulled out of 2002 FBodies with less than 5 miles on them for about $3,500.

most likely pistion slap. it seems to be a common problem, but who knows, things like this are usually either solved by the person that does the work or somone that has had nothing at all to do with the project. you might try and get a 3rd party involved that actually knows what they are doing. a fresh mind seems to do the trick alot of the time.

It is not the motor's fault that it is suffering a machanical malady. Since I am totally against non-confrontational violence, I command you to not shoot at your noisy motor!

...besides...(i) the poor motor has salvage value so don't kill it (ii) the death penalty will be nulified by the next supreme court!

This is time for you to take economic revenge; so don;t disclose the abnormalities to the next potential purchaser of this GM wonder....

Hey I'm against the death penalty, I did not say my ethics are without fault...

As Billy and Hilly Clinton would say, We feel (hear??) your pain!!!

Why can't you get the head/cam seller to tell you what is wrong? ...if this happened immediately after the H/C swap it is likley something in the top of the engeine - valves, rockers, lifters, springs, connecting rods, etc....
