Well we're talking minor details here. If the heads are stamped 243 they're LS6 heads, that alone doesn't make it an LS6 engine, but the bottom ends are not that much different and would only make a 5-10hp difference. Now if the cam is an LS6 or ? that can change the motor significantly.

Now the heads may be 243 castings and have stainless steel valves or they may be true LS6 heads with the high end lightweight friction welded valves...again not a huge HP difference, but cool to have.

Anyway you look at it, you've got a nice LS1/LS6 engine and are benefiting from someone else's project...enjoy the ride!

Hey dbuie- no reason to list LS6 intake as a mod in your sig. All 01s and 02s came with the LS6 intake. It is a little redundant, but if it makes you feel better, then continue. And you are lucky, the previous owner must have put those heads on- they definitely did not come from the factory like that.

ya who knows. the people put a nitrous kit on the car so maybe they did heads too **** i dont know. the springs had a yellow stripe on them when i did my cam swap becuase i still have them in the box at home. i guess the kid that bought the car from me is the lucky one now. anyways, just bought a 02 motor today so maybe it has 243's........doubt it though.

Yeah, I know. That much I have learned from this site. I just put it there 'cause my sig was a wimp. I will revise it.

What are the odds? Since I have the stock manifolds on the car I doubt it but I won't kick a gift horse in the mouth. If I do have a CAM, then it must be a mild one. Without me having driven a similar model that is 100% stock I don't know for sure.
