putting motor back together....QUESTION
i was putting the rear cover back on and started thinking...in the front there is the little black cover that keeps the cam from sliding out forward and then the cam is connected to the sprocket etc...but is there one of these little plates on the back that goes on before the rear cover? i can't remember if there is or not....i have all the parts from my spare motor and i don't have a part such as this but i just had to make sure(seems like since there is one in front there would be one out back as well) someone fill me in here, and any tips on putting on the ROLLMASTER crank sprocket...the stock one came off easy but putting the new one on is a bitch. i lined it up with it's dot up just like the stock one was on the key way and i'm pretty much 100% sure i did that part right, just need to get it all the way down on the crank. any tips on either thing would be awesome.

Just make sure you line up the front, back, and oil pan according to the manual. Otherwise you could have a cute oil or alignment mess.

you lost it you iiieedeott!!!
j/k man. i racked my brain the first time i did that, cause i could have sworn i lost it there's nothing that goes back on there but the back cover. just be sure that the seal goes on the crank correctly, it's easy to ruin.

Re: putting motor back together....QUESTION
how would you be able to tell if the seal is ruined? it seemed to slide right on the crank when i put it on at an angle with some oil on it. also, what do you mean line up the covers with the oil pan? shouldn't they be in the right position when bolted down? the little plug at the back was already there i think (is it brown?)

Re: putting motor back together....QUESTION
Use the old sprocket to push on the new one, and the front and rear covers have to be on about flush with the bottom. The back is a structrual part of the engine and helps support the tranny and must be aligned correctly. The rear cover cannot extend past the block, and should be as close to flush with the bottom as possible or you'll leak like a bitch.
