Default Tap Tap Tap!!!

Parked the car yesterday and it was idling fine. left it idling in the parking lot while i ran in the store to get something. come back out of the store and the m-fer is tapping its *** off and wont hardly idle.... it's not "KNOCKING" but its tapping! what the hell??? Valve spring maybe? rocker arm?

wip off your valve covers and take a look. sound like you are on the right track.

yea im thinking valve spring too because they were used when they were put on at abut 60,xxx miles... i now have 84,xxx miles on the car

What kind of springs? I dont think it will really matter but I thinks some springs are better than others.

Seriously, check your header bolts. I had a terrible sound and it was loose header bolts.

u have a really small cam so i really cant see it being the fact that he prolly doesnt have dual springs but...it is a possiblity time to pull those valve covers

Like the above post check you header bolts...you probably have a loose one or one missing and have a slight exhaust leak..it can sound just like what you are describing..the last one on the passenger side could be the culprit.

they are lunati springs good to 570 and they are not double.. still havent made time to check anything yet. been busy at work and havent gotten the car to my shop yet.. its like 30degrees here and im not going to work on it in the cold *** rain! but i will keep you all posted

I had a rocker arm that came apart and deposited the needle bearings in the pan but it stayed on the stud and made a similair noise

Sounds like a rocker. Mine went out which caused me to do the head and cam swap. My stock cam suffered from that too. It had some groves/gashes on it.

It was a broken valve spring. He's getting a set of the new 918s.

same thing has happend!!! my valve spring was broke which i guess caused the rocker to ride on the spring sidways, or in a bind causing it to come apart and deposit the needles all in the head.... i found i think 11 of the needles.. im hoping that the rest will be in the pan on my plug.


another question.. are the rockers off the ls style trucks (4.8 5.3 6.0) the same as the ls1 rockers??
