I just did my 01Z LS6 and all the cylinders came out about 180 to 184. The car seems to run strong so I think we're both probably OK. Did you open the throttle when you checked each cylinder? It's supposed to be the correct way to do it.

Another important thing about compression is that all the numbers are pretty close to one another. Having one at 170 and then one at 150 and scattered around is not really a good thing either. But 170 is fine

worn rings or rings with a large gap...same difference. but i really don't think it makes a difference unless you are up in th 250+ shot range because the rings won't inflate enough with a lesser shot to merit using them.

compression test wont always tell you everything, i would do a cylinder leak and a power balance test...

170 is ok as long as it is consistent between the cylinders. Liek stated above the leakdown test will tell you exactly where any compression loss is coming from because it could be worn valves instead of a worn bottom end.

1100 miles on my 408. Compression and leak down test this weekend. 185-190psi. Yours sound real good for the miles. Just do some leak down test to make sure for peace of mind.....
