I had the 233/239 made 5 less hp then a buddies ms3 with same mods on same dyno and tuner. This cam drives awesome, may want to consider this one I put down 410rwhp thru kooks, cut out ,12bolt, fast 78, and pulley

i would do the 231/237 for daily driver/driveability........

my ms3 is pretty choppy and in a m6 it doesnt make power to get moving till about 2300-2500 rpm

with either cam you get good numbers.....ms3 would be nice with some n20

both those cams can be for daily drivers. i would say go with the 231/237. i think there was a guy that made sick power with some prc 5.3 heads and that cam.

i don't know of too many people that would consider a SI5 - 231/237 "settling for less than a ms3"

Cause it's not as 'big' a came and the peak numbers are off by 5-15. Then again, I'm looking at the Torqer V.2

Thanks for the input!! and geovett ms3's are not the best. i have seen Torqer2 and the 231/237 dyno more and beat other ls1's with the ms3's but yes it still is a good cam.....

I have an MS3 in my car with stock stall & gears and drives fine. A friend of mine tuned it with the wide-band. Drivability is great, i guess i really comes down to who tunes ur car and parts installer.

i would consider "settling" more like -30hp under ms3. 5-15, you can make that up in a lauch, shift, etc. nothing to consider a "downgrade". and the ms3 has been called a dog in down low rpms by many enthusiasts on here and more of a "peak" cam, as opposed to the power distributed evenly through the curve and wakes up earlier down low than an ms3, si5 - 231/237

I have the ms4, I'm not gonna unfairly compare it against other cams, as many others make awesome numbers as well. What I will tell you is that so much is in the tune. My ms4 is perfectly streetable in my m6 from 1,500rpm +. But it doesn't really hit the powerband until 4k when it takes off like a bat outta hell. It works for me because the engine only see's less than 4k rpm for a split second while launching.

Just remember, choosing a cam also includes choosing the right supporting mods. A 224 cam and ms3 may make similar #s on stock heads and ls6 intake. But a set of AFRs and a FAST 90 would put the ms3 way ahead.

Neither cam, both aren't that great. Do a custom grind for your application that way there will no disappointments. Good luck..

I didn't realize that there was that much of a difference in peak. I've not seen that much, but I've seen a whole lot of dynos. I'd rather have the more even distribution than having the engine not wake up until the high RPM range. Probably cause my car isn't a drag car, as you can probably gather from my mods list...heh. But that's personal preference without testing. I need to ride/drive in a car with both MS3/MS4 type cams and the lower duration cams made to pull more evenly.

how can you say that neither are that great when a great number of people ask what cam.... torquer 2, 231/237, ms3, 228, tr224, f14,?? they both are some of the most proven cams out there and have a fair consistency of putting out over 400hp cam only. while i admit that patrick g's custom grinds are unsurpassed, there are many kick *** over the counter cams that can perform just as well, as long as you do your research.

well when paired w/ supporting mods (afr's, fast 90/90, EWP) the ms3's peak numbers will be bigger, but it pulls up to 7000k+ rpms and some don't want to pull it that high to make that power.

i agree with you in the even distribution of power through the whole rpm range which is why i voted for the 231/237.

nice 3rd gen btw!
