Can't speak for drivability issues, but most any cam will benefit greatly from a good tune; it's worth doing it to milk out those extra 15-25 ponies that are hiding in there. Sorry if you knew this already. My GUESS would be that the Z06 cam would translate well with the stock tune.

The rev limited will need to be raised for sure for the LS6 cam. Might as well get some tuning at the same time.

You don't HAVE to tune it, but at least bump up th rev limiter and shift points. If you don't bump them up then you get no extra from the cam. My idle dropped after the install of the torque converter so when I installed the '02 LS6 cam it needed that fixed too but, I didn't tune.

I just installed mine saturday, along with a set of Pacesetter longtubes. All I can say is WOW!!! I am not tuned yet, that will be coming this Saturday, I'm hoping to see a good gain from that as well. From looking at a dyno chart from someone else that installed the Z06 cam, you really don't see a big difference in HP gain until after 4200 RPM. With that being said, you really need to bump up your shiftpoints and rev limiters. But the car will be perfectly streetable without a tune, until you can get one. Get one as soon as you can to take full advantage of the cam.

Finalymodded gave an excellent disertation.

It is not NEEDED, but it would help. Especially the raised RPM limiter and idle.
