Default Timing chain question

I have a 01 Z06 with the LS6 obviously. I just recently purchased a MS4 cam kit and I was wondering if you guys think I need to buy a new timing chain. If so, which one? I think I used the LS2 timing chain kit on my old SS but wasnt sure if I need one in this car. All opinions would be great.

THANKS

Yea man. I would say just do the chain. Its so cheap, its better just for the piece of mind. I also just went with the LS2 chain when I did my cam. I think it was maybe $35 from SDPC

Yup ls2 chain will work on an ls1. Just finished my cam swap today and i went with the ls2. Also when we did my install we realized there was 1/4 to 1/2 inch of slack in the chain. That is normal so don't worry.

Agreed to all of the above. LS1 sprockets with LS2 chain, and there is minimal slack. Make sure it is lined up. I put it together, rotated with socket, and verified lined up.

Do you have the G5X4 Cam indicated by your sig? Do you think the LS2 would be up to the task of a high revving cam like that? Do you think anything above an LS2 Chain (ie double roller) would be overkill for a cam like that?

I thought about a double roller, but the LS2 chain is pretty good, much stronger than the LS1 chain. Just had my cam swapped a couple days ago, i would also recommend the ported LS6 oil pump, since you can never be too safe.

Well thats good to know, I am going to be installing a t-rex in a couple of months with some heads. I guess I will go with the LS2 timing chain, I have heard people have install problems with the Double roller and they have had to modify stuff to make the dr chain fit properly. I am probably going to go with a melling oil pump, on of my friends had one and swears by it. I am in a delima with the oil pump though, I only have 23k on my car and I have an LS6 oil pump stock, I could probably leave it but I think I will change it to be better safe then sorry.

Ya i think the ls2 is more than okay. I hear of plenty of people going with that chain and being fine. You probably would be fine with a ported ls6 oil pump also. That is what i went with and it holds about 60-70 psi cold. and 50 warm.
