Default Can't make my mind up on new lifters

Been reading threads for days. My mind hurts. I am in the middle of a h/c swap. .588/.598 lift. Patriot duals, stainless, etc. Engine has 48k on it. Do I even need to worry about the lifters? I want the Caddy lifters, but the breakage threads have me worried. That is not too big of a cam, would just a set of LS7's suffice?

Morels are nice. Lifters were the only part of motor that I left stock and in hindsight I wish I would have got some morels, although my stockers are still working fine.

So with that combo h/c, stockers would probably be fine huh. I just not sure if spending $500 is really needed. If I keep them stock, should I at least put in a new set?

Like i said in hindsight I would have put a nice set of morel lifters in before I installed the motor. You dont have to but it probably would be a good idea to put a new set of stockers in as a minimum, im just not sure how much a set of stockers costs.

I am looking for lifters also and got about the same quote as you did.

A friend of mine ran a Cam larger then that with stockers and didn't have any problems with it. And he also sprayed the bejesus out of his motor.

Get the Caddy lifters. A few more bucks than the ls7 but I think they are better.

I agree, excpet I have cold feet because of the breakage threads I have dug up. No one seems to have problems with the LS7's. How much more noise does the LS7's create?

LS7's waitin to go in here. Unless you are gonna spin 7000+ regularly the Caddies are overkill IMO.

I went Morel; after all the other money invested it was worth it to me. I say swap out yours for at least LS7. I had a set of stockers fail at 38K.

Morel's here as well. With the money invested and the time for installation, I wanted a stout lifter. The offshore guys run the crap out of them and they are built well. I just paid the x-tra and didn't look back.

I did a cam and then I pulled my heads just to change the lifters. I put in LS2 (LS7) lifters and they were much quieter than my LS1(Ls6) lifters at 87k miles.

Much quieter. Looked stronger too with a larger more exposed roller.
