Default Better CAI setup

I was noticing that the factory air intake setup seems pretty restrictive. I have an SS with the SLP lid and it does appear that it pulls some air thru the hood scoop, but the rest of the air is coming off the a/c condensor and radiator. It looks like the bottom of the airbox was already opened up by a previous owner. So I am wondering if there is something else that can be done. I kinda wonder about drilling a couple 2-2.5" diameter holes all the way thru the frame under the air box, and then welding some pipe in those holes to keep it rigid.

if its open then the A ram air kit would be nice as lond as the hole in the bottom of the air box isnt too big. And some say that blocking off stock holes for air causes a vacume effect which is better for preformance.
I have an ss and deleted the hood and use a SSRA kit with a lid. worked great at the track.

i say go for the SSRA setup instead of hacking up the frame.

much more functional of a ram air than the SS hood...MUCH
