Default 799 Castings?

Just got my stage one "LS6" heads in the mail yesterday and noticed they are 799 castings not 243 like I was expecting. They were purchased from one of our sponsors. Not really sure what to think, but I do feel kinda screwed. Called the vendor and they said the 799 are the same as the 243 head, just a newer version. Is this B.S. or did I get what I ordered? Also, chambers appear to be untouched is this normal? I would have gone with the 2.5 5.3 heads if I knew I would be getting these castings!

The 799 and the 243 castings are indeed the same casting. The 799 is the new LS2 casting. Same runner and combustion chambers. (Not sodium filled valves) As far as not CNCing the chambers, I know we don't CNC chambers to keep the compression up. CNCing the chambers doesn't help or hurt the flow. So if a customer is not wanting the lower the compression, we leave the chamber as is to keep the compression up!

Thanks for the info Jon, I was not aware of any other castings identical to the 243.

Being that they're ported, I wouldn't bitch. Stock for stock though the 243's are better than the 799's. It's all in the casting process. 243's= canadian made, 799's = from the land of burritos (mexico). The 243's are much smoother in the runner area than the 799's stock for stock.

I just bought a set of 799s and they came with made in Canada stickers. There are always a lot of guys who don't know what they are talking about.

nothing is up with that, if you search on other ls forums some C6's and some trailblazers with the Ls2 have 1-243 on one side and a 799 on another!! so whether its from mexico or canada(**** those scarey frenchman) GM sends them off that way from the assembly line.

My brother has an 08 5.3 tahoe with two 243's also.

wish I had either! LOL
