Re: TEA headed cars..... post your dyno #s inside
Brian,
Yeah this was my new motor, I already have the clutch fixed as well as the rear back together. Just waiting for my heads and new headers. I can't wait to see the results. As soon as I can get a complete graph I'll post it. The only dyno pull I made was the one where the clutch popped on the dyno. Since it wasn't a full pull I didnt have them print it out. The car went from 4500-6k pretty easy and the rev's just shot up and the wheels stopped spinning. Sounded like a top fuel car during warmup when they smack the throttle.

Thanks vince, whats the specs on the fm-9 cam, looks like you made more power with stg1 heads than alot of people make with stg2's. did you upgrade to stg2 or are they still stg1

In the sig
408 rwhp thru SLP dual/dual
418 rwhp thru cut out, 5,900 rpm
224 XE-R cam and TEA 5.3 Stage 2 heads
I would like to know if anyone had their 5.3's flow tested with the LS6 intake. If so please PM me with the results. My heads were flow tested with the LS6 intake and I can share data etc.
I would like to see what the TEA heads with the "bigger" NOS exhaust port do.

Vince, my provider won't allow me to host the bitmap and my version of paint won't save the bitmap as a jpeg. Tomorrow, I'll make a jpeg on another another PC.
Cam has is installed with less than 4 degree of advance to get ~.075 P to V clearance with the 224 cam. Heads were supposed to be .005 off for clean up, they have .020 to .030 off compared to a set of stock heads.
Atap showed ~.1 to .3 KR. O2's and other stuff looked good. Springs were check for correct pressure and install height when the heads were apart to clean out the metal shavings. SRP said the exhaust ports were barely touched. Physical measurements showed may be .3 of a millimeter increase in exhaust port size. Area behind the valves were barely touched. 200 CFM w/o pipe, most others get ~220 to 235 cfm w/o pipe.
TEA was informed of every detail I found before the install because I concerned my set was below standard. TEA said bolt up the heads as is, don't touch them other than clean up the metal shavings they shipped them with.
I have LT Hookers with Mufflex 3 inch into 4inch and dump into 3 inch cut out. While not as good as true duals, it's not that shabby.
Others (not SRP), that saw the graphs said it looked like an exhaust restriction was holding the car back.
I'm open to advise.
Tomorrow, I'll start a new thread for my graph to this thread isn't taken off topic.

99 Black it just do not add up.. If you guys installed the cam with less advance your car should peak even later than the usual 224 cams.. Something is wrong.. I am willing to say TEA could have made a mistake and milled your heads more than .005. What is your timing set too? If it is anywhere near 29 degrees then something is really wrong.. You should have more KR and your compression would require a bigger cam to bleed it off.. What size gaskets are you running? Are you sure they are .054 gaskets or bigger?

My 'vette pulled 420 rwhp and 417 rwtq @ 6000 rpm. I have the Stage II 5.3 heads and a 'small' TR224 cam installed w/ 4 deg. advance ground in.
My 'major' mods include the LS6 manifold, 30# SVO injectors, pulley, FLP long-tubes, vararam intake, JWIS timing chain, Cloyes Hex-Adjust timing kit, ARE ported LS6 oil pump, NGK TR55 plugs, ported TB and descreened MAF (still stock, though). I pulled these numbers through a 3.73 rear end and 295/30R18 tires.
I did my own LS1-Edit tuning, as well.
All I can say is that TEA rocks. I love their product, and would not hesitate to go there again for my next major purchase.
