Default new motor, spun bearing

on one of my rebullt forged motors, Im kind of curious on what caused it to spin a rod bearing. It had a new ls6 oil pump and plenty of oil pressure. It started knocking after about 90 miles.

why did you rebuild it in the first place cause if you had a spun bearing before and you just replaced the bearings thats wrong cause with a forged motor when you spin a bearing you need to replace the crank bearings and the rod that it spun on cause it makes a black mark in the rod and you cna no longer use it thats what happened to me

, old motor popped with boost and a poor tune with the STS turbo.
the new motor have new everything and a re finished crank, new H beam rods,bearings, billet main caps, you name it.

Running too rich-washed it out.
Spinning it too hard.
Low on oil.
Wasnt put together right.
Wasnt clean when rebuilt.


Anything really, but probably one of those I listed.

Too high rpms? Did you over rev it at all?

3 things kill bearings in new engines

1-the biggest DIRT-usually comes from metal shaving left in the oil galleys,seen this happen way too many times
2-improper oil clearance on the bearings
3-detonation-improper tune

Did you plasta gauge your bearing for clearance.

I didnt build the motor, so Im not sure on how close the tolerances were on that forged motor.

No detonation, i was just breaking it in and never put the turbo back on.
Oil pressure was fine and never dropped below 22 once warm.

I never took it over 6k rpms.

I was actually surprised when I first heard it knock.

Another would be improper bearing crush. There is a spec diameter that the main and rod bores must be in order to hold the bearing in place.
