Default Started the rebuild

This is my rebuild of my 2002 Camaro SS. I blew the #7 piston Oct. 5, 2007. This is the documentation of the new 408 motor, moser rear and performabuilt trans. Check out my fQuick webpage JDmurse is my username. Sorry not digital camera savvy so don't know how to shrink pics.

There is info about my setup in this Link

The old rear is out

The new Moser 3.42 rear with TrueTrac in, waiting on the new panhard rod and swaybar that are on the way.

Filling it with fluids

The new UMI torque are (thanks for hooking me up xXx)

Old motor out

New motor prep/paint

First coat done

Ridin' dirty or white n' nerdy

The shoe horn maneuver

Getting those mount bolts through

And it is in... :bed: does it feel good!

Covering it up to keep critters out until it is buttoned up

Will update the thread as progress is made. Thanks for checking it out.

Jon

Here I had to clean, scrape and sand the engine bay. I then repainted it.

Further updates soon...Hope to finish this weekend

Funniest thing when I was dropping the motor in my wife asks me why I did not sell the AFR 205s and buy some AFR 225s? I probably would have gone 235s if you can get them (yet) or just some Mamofied 225s. I did not do it because I thought she might get upset after all the money I spent so far on the build...go figure. I did not think she would even realize the difference the 225s would make over the 205s. Thinking about it now I could have sent my 205s to Tony and had him check my valves and do his thing on them...probably would have been better for my motor than the 225s because I rarely see the track anyway.

Nothing happening on the build today, waiting on Yank to send back my TC.

Nice progress, might I ask what you are doing for cam?
Also it would probably be a good idea to invest in some jackstands.

Thanks guys.

The cam is from HKE (also motor builder) it is 242/244 .610/.612 113+3.

I have jack stands, if you are referring to the shot filling the rear diff cover they were under the subframes, you can actually see the base of one in the torque arm pic. I would not be under there without the jackstands even with the floor jack there.

I can't believe you got your wife to help you paint your block.

My wife would have kicked me in the ***** and taken my wallet.

I had 35k miles when it blew...definitely exerts negative pressure (sucks).

My wife has been great about this whole build, helping with what she can, and giving the go ahead with a smile on all purchases. I wish I had known that she would have approved a new set of heads but since my heads only had 1000 miles on them I did not even broach the subject.

Well today I installed: Flex plate (no pic), AC condensor, PS pump pulley, crank pulley, water pump, radiator and some other odds and ends. The tranny goes in tomorrow...will be a biatch by myself with the jack but you gotta do...

I ended up not getting it installed today but I did get it put together, my rear swaybar showed up too. I had to take my daughter to guitar lessons after going to work for a couple of hours...I have not been paid for my TDY yet and filled out the TV on 3 Apr...not gonna go into why, but I had to take care of this as my Gov. card is due and it is $2300 and has not been paid. I am probably going to have to pay it and then just cancel the split dispersement or something. Slowed my progress today considerably.

What did you use to clean all that battery acid with? Did you repaint it with factory paint or what? Mine looks a little worse than what yours looked like.

No the pulley is from Lingenfelter...

I sanded with 60/120/200/600 paper and the used some of the metal ready from POR 15 that I had left over. Then I did repaint it. I just used some duplicolor from Autozone. I did not care if it matched perfectly because it is under the battery tray and the rest is on the firewall.

As for the Update...today I installed the transmission and DS loop. Tomorrow I uninstall the transmission and DS loop and then re-install the transmission and DS loop.

I installed the trans and the TC slipped off the shaft (slightly) so the crank won't turn . It was a PITA doing it by myself and now I have to undo it and re-do it. I don't feel much like posting pictures right now. Maybe later.
