Default Different cam retainer plate whats up with that?

Well I am in the middle of a rebuild, just got a new cam retainer plate from Gm. They have now gone from the standard hex head bolts to counter sunk torxe screws.

Anyone have any idea why? I figured maybe for a thicker plate, but after comparing the 2 they are the same thickness.

I think its pretty crappy GM swapped out this part and didn't provide a bulletin. I only found out by digging and because my background made me suspicious that the torque value would change.

If you get a cam sprocket with a Torrington bearing you don't have that wear problem on the retainer plate face.
