I'll just say WS6. I was at one time looking at a new 04 GTO but it just didn't do anything for me. I thought it looked plain and the exhaust just didn't cut it either. I do think the 05 looks alot better but still not for me. Get what YOU like, that's all that matters anyway

I have had them both. Both a 02 WS6 and now a 04 GTO. There are Pros and Cons for each. Pick which is more important to you and be happy
Pros of a WS6, more agressive look, can fit wider and bigger wheels, fairly inexpensive to mod and many abundant parts. Easier to launch.
Cons of WS6, unfortunately the best interior 1982 could design (Even has the 1980's style Monsoon manual equalizer
). Weak 10 bolt rear end, the seats are horrible, chassis is about as stiff as a limp noodle, T-tops will eventually leak, the hatch area... come on forget it if you want to carry a suitcase, golf bag, anything somewhat large really..
Pros of a GTO, nicest interior GM had designed until the current CTS came out, handles nicer stock, doesn't rattle at all very solid, usable rear seats, usable trunk area, no wind noise, no leaking t-tops, sleeper look, easier to work on the engine (Engine is half under the cowl). True dual exhaust, Same engine parts availability as a F-bod / vette. great sounding radio, Even Top Gear loves this car (when called a monaro)
Cons, sleeper look, ridiculous cost to upgrade anything outside of the engine, weak 2 piece driveshaft, irs is a pain to launch, wheel hop, can't fit a decent width tire under the wells, it's a heavy car, spoiler prevents any real rear visibility.

I love my WS6 and think they are gorgeous. However I was thinking of picking up a GTO for a while too...the interior in those things is sick, but in the end, decided against the spruced up Grand Prix.

Once you get an F-body it is just in your blood and even though you are ready to move up to something else it is hard to part with the F body. Mine is forever and I have had dozens of cars.... My fave was actually a 2nd Gen(H/C/I/E/ Big Carb + Edelbrock Performer/3,73 gear & T/A car. But as far as performance it wouldn't hold a candle to my 4th gen which will be my daughters soon......But it was a fast streetcar for it's time but not very impressive for a streetcar now......

C5 Vette. You can get a nice 98-00 with lower miles (50k miles or so) for around the price of an LS1 Goat or an 02-03 with more miles on it for nearly the same price (75-80k miles). By same price I mean in the general 14-16k range or even lower if you look. LS2 goats still seem to hover in the 17-19k range and aren't worth that in comparison to a C5 or WS6.
Nothing gets more attention than a Vette or handles better (at least from the General).

for all the people saying an 04 gto is a waste of money....thats the most rediculous thing I've ever heard. It is the same vehicle as an 05-06 gto minus the non functional scooped hood, the grandprix looking dual exit exhaust and the half inch bigger front brakes....the ls1 to ls2 difference is a tune away and the price you save on the proven ls1 platform is rediculous.

LOL...always find comments about the goat like this funny.
Like everyone has said, if all you want is to go in a straight line, the WS6 will get you there faster. If you want to handle without being thrown around because there was a pebble in the turn, get the goat. Comfort, get the goat.
I've had 3 F-Body's over the years and loved them all. The goat is a better "all around" car than any of them. It would take a lot of money to get it as fast as my TTA was, but high 11's/low 12's is going to be good enough for me with the goat![Happy](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_stretch.gif)
It is all what you are after in the long run. Get/drive whatever you want. They are both great cars so its a win with either.

I picked up an 04 in march for 15k which is way cheaper than 05/06 and you can get them way less than that now. My dad has a C5 which is awsome but less practical. I agree with the above Straight line get the WS6. My 04 GTO stock did 13.5 Headers short throw shifter and CAI i did 12.9 on weak stock clutch. After cam i did 12.6 with still a weak stock clutch...ill get you updated on a new time bc i just put in a southbend stg 2. I also picked up 05/06 brakes from cleveland pick a part for a few hundred bucks. Also my 04 has the 05/06 rear bumper and 06 tails on it. Bottom line they are all LS cars and all look Bad *** in my opinion
