Bill,
I would love a GMMG or a Borla, but with having to buy a new system from the headers back....cost is a big factor. Not to mention tires, torque arms and possibly new rims, I only have a few bucks to play with. If I had to prioritize, tires may pass this year and could wait till next. I would like to got the exhaust squared away so I am not back and forth to the tuner.
My big big hang up is a good catted Y that I can "modify" for "off road" use.

Why would it not work well?, its a great free flowing catback that MANY people have put out great numbers with and its the one of the cheapest all SS catbacks on the market. Do you have anything to back that up besides just saying that it doesnt work well? What doesnt work well and why?

I had a borla catback. After I did kook LT'S the car was a little too loud. I got a magnaflow
and they retuned my car.I picked up more torque. The magnaflow are really good catback systems. They are a little quiet for some people but they are still really good on ls1 cars.
When you have more money I would get a good set of heads and an ls6 intake .This stuff can get really expansive pretty quick.
I am doing heads and cam and a few other things pretty soon here.I figured if I was going get things done that I would wait untill a got some decent heads.I already have all the bolt ons. If you are doing the work yourself then who cares.I am having a shop do the work so I figured why not do it all the same time considering how much work it all is.

you might be past this ? but i have jet hot LT's w jet hot Y and cats. the cats slip inside the Y and do NOT pass a visual test. just my 2 cents. my dyno #s suck but my car runs smooth and great. as long as your exhaust is better than stock, get heads and you'll probably get the dyno #s you want.

I dont think your result with just a cam n intake is bad.. My car has a similar crane cam 578lift 230/230 dur. (and at the time with slp exhaust) dyno with stock heads, stock bottom end, stock intake- m6 (with a 10 bolt at the time) and pulled 374rwhp..(on a mustang dyno) This was before the complete stainless steel 1n 3/4quarter full tube headers, and 3 1/2 inch exhaust, and the moser 12 bolt w/ 4.10 gears.. and the twin intercooled D1SC... lol
Your not to far, get some exhaust like your saying- and i think you might be close to what your goal is of 400rwhp.. Good luck!

Well you are right about numbers. I got to play around with it last night, and once that thing hits 3K RPM, it just takes off. Its easy to wrapped up in numbers and all but this is growing on me. (much more so once I get the exhaust squared away.)
I thank everyone for their input and those who will add more input.

Well my results came back from the Dyno...........374.6. I would have guessed I would be around 400 or so. I was told my exhaust may be the culprit. That doesn't surprise me, but man 375. Tuner was recommended many times over, so I doubt its his fault.
Anyone think I had my sights set too high?
Well time to step back and punt and see what I can do. Suggestons welcome (tactful not smartass ones....no sence in kicking a man when hes down) LOL!!!!!

228/228 cam
LT Headers
True Duals
Volant style intake
dual timing chain
Dual Springs And stock everything else including the intake manifold.
All this is on a 98
Sounds like you need a retune.

To the OP: You might need a larger fuel pump. Are you running low on fuel at around the 5K+ RPM mark? I am having this issue right now...check sig. Numbers will be much stronger when I get the 255 LPH in there. We can add more timing and the injectors won't be forced to work over 100%. Just something to think about. Check your dyno sheet and see if you start running lean on you A/F ratio as your RPM's pass the 5K mark. Good Luck.
