I'm looking for a cam that is has a noticable lope with good gas milage as this is my DD. My car is a 1998 m6. I will run stock heads. I have LT's, ORY, slp maf, 3" exhaust 3.42 gears. I may spray no more than a 100 shot occasionally. Any ideas.

To accomplish your goals you will not hit 420 rwhp...with stock heads hitting 420 rwhp is very very hard to do with any cam configuration..let alone doing it and having good fuel economy too...as was posted before you do not need large duration numbers to make good HP and TQ numbers..

Thats gonna be hard with 98 heads, I should know, look at my sig. 420 rwhp = not great gas milage.
Realistically 390-400 rwhp with somthing in the 224 range would be good for you. If your gonna spray you may want some more exhaust duration. I would look at futral and their 224/228 cam on a 114 or 112 depending on how much overlap you want. Think it's the f12. Need to get rid of that ls1 intake also, makes a big difference.

Look for a set of LS2 heads. They are CHEAP.. 300 dollar range and should give you a nice 20rwhp gain with the stock cam. THEN you can run a mild cam and make some decent numbers.
As for 420rwhp.. Won't get anywhere close with something small. It's going to have to be nasty.

I have a 98 car and I just ordered my cam that Predator Z speced for me. Its a 232/228 595. 588. 110-1. I had him design it to work with the stock heads and not rev past the breaking point(6600-6700 rpms). I also plan on spraying it. Should have it in and tuned in about a month. Send me a pm sometime and I'll let you know how it does. Oh this cam should have 10* of overlap too.

ive seen trex cammed cars hit 450 on stock 98 heads...i was making 380 with a 220/224 vinci cam got 20mpg wirh a 4000 stall...but id think a trex would get terribble gas mileage and have terrible street manners...

One of the many 23x/23x cams should give you a happy medium between power and mileage. Don't get too caught up on dyno numbers though. Some of these 23x cams pull HARD for their size.
