Re: MTI head/Cam package vs SLP Head/Cam package
Just a question... Why wouldn't SLP heads be good???
I never seen them but that question arose in my head...

I have always been pleased with MTI's work. They make the best heads/cam pkg. out there. If your wondering about cost, ask the other vendors how many parts they upgrade in their heads. MTI replaces something like 144 parts - it's an entire upgrade. If your looking for the best, MTI is your best bet.

If it was my money, I would build my own setup and save a couple of grand. MTI is overpriced. They do good work and are probably the "best" ot there, but is the "best" and 5 or 10 rwhp work $2k? If you are rich- then yes. If not- start looking around and talk to some of the other major head porters out there. You can achieve equal or better results than MTI for ALOT less money.
If I were a millionare, then Jayson at MTI would rpobably be my best friend, because I would have the money to blow without concern. Since this is not the case, I have to spend every dollar wisely and MTI is far from the wisest choice for VALUE.

MTI does warranty and actually stand behind their work unlike most in the HP business. MTI has proved MTI will take care of problems in a fair and reasonable way time after time as witnessed by many on this board. This is worth a lot of some folks. The outstanding customer service and quality is part of the reason MTI costs more.
Do you see people bitch about how their car didn't make the rwhp they wanted? Ever notice those folks aren't MTI customers? Ever notice that MTI's customer are pretty much happy with their cars and the results? Reassurance that you'll reach your goals is worth extra to some people.

Re: MTI head/Cam package vs SLP Head/Cam package
I was in the same boat...SLP or not SLP...After reading as many posts about heads/cams as I could find on this board, I chose MTI. Sure, they're pricey, but my baby is worth it. You can probably find similar #'s from lesser priced heads, but I felt most comfortable with MTI. If you order from MTI, consider carefully about having the heads milled. I didn't, and my heads are milled...it really limits your camshaft selection. MTI will mill the heads .030 unless you tell them not to. I have yet to decide on a cam for my heads. Either MTI X1 or a custom grind...As for SLP...I can't give you first hand info on their heads/cam package, but I can tell that I have been very happy with all of their products that I have purchased...they just seem to get an automatic bad rap on the internet boards...just my .02.
