Help! Car leaking oil after hitting huge puddle.
Tonight I was driving home and hit a large puddle of water in a parking lot. All of a sudden my car started knocking and chugging and my oil pressure died. I had the car towed home and there is oil leaking from it but I won't know where it's coming from until tomorrow when I jack it up in the day time.
Any ideas why this might have happened or what is leaking?

That is how the guy I bought my car from explained what happened to my 98 Z. It had 2 broken rods and cracks in the block. They were very hard to see without a lift and a high power light. Good luck, but My gut feeling is you are in the market for an engine...

very very unlikely the cold water would instantly crack aluminum. and the from what it sounds like he was just starting off from work so i doubt the engine was that warm. but hell anything is possible lol. I still will lay 8 to 5 that its hydrolocked. If it is call the insurance company.

hmmm... just seems like i've heard of people cracking their block when they go wash their engine bay when the engine is hot... could be wrong, but could have sworn I've heard that before...
not saying this is what happened to the OP... but brings up the question if it's possible and if so, how possible...?

FMI,
How would the engine hydrolock by hitting a puddle? I mean I can see it of the water is up over the hood and all.
I mean does that much splash up into the air filter and get through the throttle body into the engine???
