Default Ls1 Rebuild

I have a 98 T/A that has 124000 miles on it, it was honestly grandma driven up to 100000 miles, I am wondering if an engine rebuild would be smart. I have already replaced tranny, cat converters, and water pump. If I dont rebuild, I am looking at all new exhaust, headers down, and or a new hood...
Any Thoughts?

I wouldn't rebuild it just because of the miles.. is it giving you any noise? Still have good power? Smoking?

There are plenty of stock Ls1s out there that last longer.. just depends on the maintenance done to them. There are plenty in to the 100ks that get raced, sprayed, etc.

Also, most "grandmas" lack on oil changes, services, etc. If it has had good servicing, leave it alone and have fun with it.

No noises no smoking, but it seems like ive lost a little power, but i honestly think its my sparkplugs and wires losing that power, they have not been changed in a very long time but i was planning on doing that when i got headers til my friend scared me about getting it rebuilt...

I wouldn't rebuild it. I'm right around that same mileage and i'm cammed and sprayed. You should be fine. Just make sure you change those plugs and wires soon

I would do leak down and compression tests if it has lost power. If that shows anything, bad rings, higher than normal oil consumption, etc. then toss in new rings and rebuild it while your in there.

I have an 00 SS with 151,xxx on it, she went 13.5 at 105 coming straight off the highway in 89 degree heat here in florida. 40+ oil psi at idle, no noise or smoke, didnt plan on rebuilding it, just have heads/cam/full bolt ons about to go on. I'm more worried about the rearend than anything.

If it runs good and dosen't use a lot of oil or smoke why bother.Do a compression test.If it is good(which it will probably be),Install new plugs and msd wires. You will notice a lot of guys with a lot more miles on their cars are running and doing fine.WHY FIX IT IF YOU DON'T HAVE TO.

Yea you got me beat there, I'd like to think mine does great for being fairly stock with all those miles though.

leave it alone. if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

mileage doesn't mean much to these engines. a friend of mine buys nothing but b4c cars, every one he bought so far had over 100k on it when he bought it. he ran one of them to 160k with bolt-ons, basically trying to break it...he eventually pulled the motor in favor of a different one. the old one still runs with no problems, will be going in a 73 datsun. his brother has a b4c with..i think 145k on it, bolt-on car as well. runs great.
